By accessing or using OdorWatch ("the Site," "we," "us," or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Site. OdorWatch is a community information tool operated as a public service for residents of Roseville and Rocklin, California.

2. Description of Service

OdorWatch provides a platform for community members to anonymously report unpleasant outdoor odors in their neighborhoods, view a map of recent reports, and track odor trends over time. The Site also provides links to official government reporting channels for Placer County and the City of Roseville.

3. User Conduct

By submitting a report through OdorWatch, you agree to the following:

  • You will submit only truthful, good-faith reports based on actual odors you have personally experienced.
  • You will not submit false, fabricated, or malicious reports intended to mislead the community or harm any individual, business, or organization.
  • You will not use the reporting form to make personal attacks, complaints about neighbors, or reports unrelated to outdoor air quality or odors.
  • You will not attempt to manipulate, spam, or artificially inflate report data.
  • You understand that submitted reports may be publicly displayed on the Site's map and dashboard.

4. Disclaimer of Accuracy

OdorWatch displays community-submitted reports and makes no representations or warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any report. All data is user-generated and has not been independently verified. The information on this Site is provided for general community awareness purposes only and should not be relied upon as scientific, medical, legal, or regulatory evidence.

For official air quality data and regulatory enforcement, please contact the Placer County Air Pollution Control District or the City of Roseville Environmental Utilities Department.

5. No Professional Advice

Nothing on OdorWatch constitutes medical, environmental, legal, or regulatory advice. If you believe you are experiencing a health emergency related to air quality, call 911 or contact your local emergency services immediately.

6. Intellectual Property

The OdorWatch name, logo, design, and original content are the property of OdorWatch and its operators. Community-submitted report data is provided by users and is not claimed as proprietary. You may share links to this Site freely for non-commercial, community purposes.

7. Third-Party Services

OdorWatch uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own terms:

  • Google Forms & Google Sheets — used to collect and store odor reports. Governed by Google's Terms of Service.
  • Google Maps — used to display the community odor map. Governed by Google Maps Terms of Service.
  • Umami Analytics — used for anonymous site usage statistics. No personal data is collected.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, OdorWatch and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site or reliance on any information displayed on it. The Site is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind.

9. Modifications

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Placer County, California.
